Carol Colleran, CAP, ICADC

Ms. Carol Colleran is the Executive Vice President and former National Director of Older Adult Services for the Hanley Center in West Palm Beach. She is a pioneer in the field of treatment and prevention of alcohol and medication addiction among older adults, having helped develop the leading Center for Recovery of Older Adults at Hanley-Hazelden in 1996. Ms. Colleran also initiated the development of Hanley-Hazelden's model prevention program, "Aging to Perfection" in 2003. Her advocacy for age-responsive treatment and prevention is represented in her ongoing media interviews nationwide, the recent book, Aging and Addiction, coauthored with Debra Jay, and education outreach in professional and university presentations, workshops and classes. She has been a field reviewer for the Treatment Improvement Protocol (TIP) series for the Center of Substance Abuse Treatment (CSAT) and the Center of Substance Abuse Prevention (CSAP) of the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA), and has been actively involved in organizations such as SAMHSA's CSAT and CSAP and the Aging Assembly of the United Nations.
