Ms. Jennifer Ragg has been working as an Information and Referral Specialist at the West Central Florida Area Agency on Aging for three years. The Area Agency on Aging is a non-profit agency that serves the needs of seniors in Hillsborough, Polk, Manatee, Hardee and Highlands counties. The Agency is responsible for providing Information, Referral and Assistance through the Elder Helpline and for funding various direct service programs, with the goal of allowing seniors to remain in their homes with dignity and independence for as long as possible.
Ms. Ragg's primary responsibilities at the Area Agency on Aging include responding to consumer requests on the Elder Helpline and coordinating the agency's Gatekeeper program that trains service providers and others in the community to identify at-risk seniors and refer them to the appropriate agency for assistance. She is also responsible for providing trainings on Suicide Prevention to direct service providers in the agency's planning and service area.
Ms. Ragg received a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology from Florida State University in 1999. She holds two certifications from the Alliance of Information and Referral Systems: Certified Information and Referral Specialist (CIRS), and Certified Information and Referral Specialist in Aging (CIRS-A). Jennifer is also a Certified Crisis Worker (CCW) through the American Association of Suicidology. Before coming to the Area Agency on Aging, she worked as a Senior Crisis Counselor on 211 at the Crisis Center of Tampa Bay. While employed at the Crisis Center, Ms. Ragg honed her skills as both a counselor and a trainer, and increased her knowledge of all types of assistance programs for individuals in need.
Ms. Ragg was recently married to her boyfriend of nine years. They currently reside in Lutz, Florida with a dog, a cat, and a bearded dragon.
